365 project - 17th week

Week 17 of my 365 project is in the can! That means, it's done. This is going to sound like a broken record, but I still haven't found the time to look at Photoshop Elements further. I'm still relying on Pioneer Woman's (PW) actions for Photoshop Elements to add some interest to my photos. This coming week (with the exception of today because I've already completed my photo), the plan is to use only the edits that came with Photoshop Elements 9.0...no add ons.

This week was kind of rough (motivation and inspiration wise) and I'm not particularly fond of any of these photos. I think they are ok, but I don't have any favourites.   If I had to pick one, I guess I like the 7th one the best.

365 project - 16th week

Here are the photos for Week 16 of my 365 project. I didn't plan to do all B&W-ish ones, but once I was halfway, I figured I might as well finish up the week. I'm still using Pioneer Woman's (PW) actions for Photoshop Elements too much, but I haven't found the time to figure out how to do some of the fancier stuff myself. Besides, I just adore a few of the them, namely Heartland (shot 5) and PW B&W. Sooner or later I'm going to have to learn how to do it.

This week my favourites are 1,3, and 5.

365 project - 15th week

Week 15 of my 365 project is complete! It's hard to believe I've taken over 100 photos already. Actually, it's many more than that. Sometimes I take 30+ shots, just to get one to upload. Anyway, here's the latest bunch. My favourites are 2,3, and 6. I'm hoping to use PhotoShop Elements (PSE) better this coming week. Right now, I'm using too many Pioneer Woman (PW) actions and not learning to do stuff myself.

I just noticed that each of the photos below are in the landscape format.  I find that interesting because before I started the project, the majority of my shots were in portrait format...which I prefer. I'm going to try to pay more attention to that this week.  Update: I may have just figured out why.  I'm using my macro lens more and it's easier to have a steady hand when holding the camera horizontally.   Time to break out the tripod.  (Maybe if I use my old inherited one enough, I can justify buying a new one!)

365 project - 14th week

Here are my photos for the 14th week of my 365 project. Just as I thought I was gaining momentum and was on a roll, I hit a wall this week with regards to energy and inspiration. It's not just this project, it's everything that has me feeling blah. Anyway, I hope you are having a lovely, relaxing Easter Sunday.

Saturday Snapshot - Bathroom Renovations - Before and After

At long last, the bathroom renovations are complete!  It was a very stressful process and I'm so glad it's done.  We still haven't bought any accessories or towels for either bathroom.  Hence, the mismatched towels and ugly bathmat.  Anyway, here are the before and after photos.

This is the main bathroom on the second floor of the house. It went from a three piece to a four piece.  Major improvement!

This first photo was taken just as demo was taking place.  In the alcove, the vanity and large mirror have already been removed.

New walk-in shower.

Old tub.

New tub. Ignore the fact that the drawers on the linen tower (right) are a bit wonky. They still need some adjustments.

Old toilet.

New double sinks.

Here are the before and after photos of the small bathroom on the main floor. It, too, went from a three piece to a four piece. These ones will be a little harder to appreciate because the bathroom is so small it was hard to get in there and take decent shots.   Also, the colour is off because of the lighting.

In the old bathroom, you walked directly into the shower.

The new bathroom with improved layout.

Old toilet and sink. Isn't that floor awful?  The grout was beyond dirty and the tiles were laid unevenly.  Yuck.

New shower and jetted tub.

That's it.   Overall, I'm happy with the results.  I'm glad we don't have to do it again any time soon.

Saturday Snapshot is hosted by Alyce of At Home With Books. To participate – post a picture that you've taken (or one taken by a friend, or a family member) then add your link on Alyce’s site using Mr. Linky.

365 project - 13th week

Here are my photos for the 13th week of my 365 project. I'm trying to make the photos relate to my life a little more rather than a bunch of random shots of random objects. I think I was successful on that front for at least a few of these this week. The people on the 365 project website have been supportive, helpful and inspiring. I don't think I could do this project without them.
