365 Project - 12th week

Here are my photos for the 12th week of my 365 project. I used the macro lens on the 3rd and 5th photos. They are probably my favourites because I'm still having trouble with the lens (I know...practice, patience and perseverance) and am amazed when anything works out.   Nevertheless, I'm pretty happy with all of them.

Photo Friday - Rain

Recycled shot from a couple of weeks ago.  Added a mono edit from PSE.  It's one of my favourites and I'm trying to get as much mileage from it as possible. ;)

For more "Rain" photos, visit the Photo Friday website.   Mine is #84.

365 Project - 11th week

Here are my photos for the 11th week of my 365 project. Our beautiful spring weather made me happier and provided me with some inspiration. My favourites are the water crown (2nd photo) and the copper tree (7th photo). I'm still elated over how well the water crown turned out:

Saturday Snapshot - Winter is all gone...for now

Last week, I posted a two photos of our wintery yard and a forecast of spring-like weather. Well, that weather showed up alright! It was wonderful...and still is. I didn't really keep track, but I'm sure we broke all kinds of records. Tomorrow is supposed to be the hottest day at 28C/82F. That's unheard of in March. I don't know what the record high was for that day, but for all of March, the record high is 16.6 (March 23, 2000). I think it's safe to say we'll break that record.

Anyway, here are the photos of the back yard and front yard (taken around 3:30pm today):

If you missed the wintery photos last week, click here.   Living on the Canadian prairies means that winter can strike back at any time.  I think we're all holding our collective breaths and hoping that this really is spring and that winter doesn't show up again until later this year...sometime in October or November.   I, for one, won't be letting out that breath until mid-May.

365 Project - Week 10

Here are my photos for the 10th week of my 365 project. I've still been taking many photos a day and posting the best one, but I feel like I'm running out of energy and inspiration...only 42 weeks to go. *sigh* The macro lens, while I love it, is giving me a few headaches. Hopefully, I can gain some momentum this week and keep it going.

Saturday Snapshot - Spring is around the corner!

I was really hoping to post the before and after photos of my bathroom renovation. Sadly, they are still not done. There has been delay after delay after delay and there's still a few things that need to be done, like some touch-up painting. I'm still hoping one day soon, it'll be done. I'm not holding my breath, though. :(

Anyway, instead I thought I'd take a photo of our wintery yard because if the weather forecasters are correct, it's all about to change. This morning was -7C/19F ("feels like"/windchill temp -13/9F). That's pretty typical for a early March morning. Nice, but definitely more winter than spring. According to The Weather Network, spring is on its way. No, really!

The forecasted weather for this week:
Today 3C/37F (It's already 5C)
Sunday 5C/41F
Monday 7C/44F
Tuesday 10C/50F
Wednesday 9C/48F
Thursday 15C/59F
Friday 17C/62F
Saturday 20+C/68+F

That may seem cold to some of you in the southern US or other parts around the world, but to us it's going to be a glorious week. Very quick melts like this are usually a bad sign. If the ground is still frozen (and it will be) and the water has no where to go (and it won't), there's a risk of overland flooding. Blah, blah, blah. I'm not going to think of that now. I'm going to rejoice that warmer weather is on the way!

So here are the photos of the back yard and front yard as of 1pm today:

Hopefully, next week I'll post ones that look very different...with all or most of the snow gone...at least temporarily. We sometimes get snow in April and/or May. Blah, blah, blah. Again, I'm not going to think about that right now.  I'm going to be too busy putting away my parka and snow boots and breaking out my flip flops and sun screen.

Stand back, Winter. Spring is on the way!

365 Project - Week 9

Here are my photos for the 9th week of my 365 project. I'm still loving the new lens and have used it quite a bit...shots 3,5 and 6 below. For shot 2, it looks like I used a macro lens, but I didn't. The image was quite clear, so I did a lot of cropping.

It's still takes quite a bit of time each day to do this project. Some days I only have to take a few shots to get something; other days it's more like 30 shots. I also spend a lot of time on the 365 Project website looking at other people's photos and commenting on them.
