365 Project - Week 8

Here are my photos for the 8th week of my 365 project. I got some my much needed renewed energy this week with the purchase of a new macro lens: Canon EF-S 60mm F/2.8 Macro. I love it!  It's definitely going to take lots of patience, practice and perseverance, but I'll eventually get the hang of it. The last three photos were shot with that lens.

Saturday Snapshot - Rose

I figured I should take a few photos of Valentine's Day roses before they faded away and wound up in the compost pile.   Lovely, aren't they?    The compost pile isn't really as bad as it sounds.  It's far better than the landfill.  Right now, it's just not so nice to think that this beautiful flower will one day end up being combined with banana peels, egg shells, coffee grounds and other crap and eventually be fed to my daylilies.  ;)

365 Project - Week 5

Here it is week 5 and I'd love to say that I'm going strong. The truth is this is hard. Sometimes I have to take dozens of photos to find just one that I like enough to post. I have the time, but not always the stamina. I get frustrated when a shot just isn't working and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. This is supposed to be a challenge and challenging it is. I'm definitely using my camera more and I think I'm learning a little along the way. I guess that's the point, right?

So, on to this week's photos for my 365 project - Life - Up Close:

Saturday Snapshot - Hoar Frost

For the past few mornings, we've woken up to some beautiful hoar frost on the trees.  These photos don't do it justice at all. Near the highway, all of the trees were beautifully covered and looking spectacular. However, I was too lazy to walk (or drive) there to get a shot, so I settled for the evergreen tree at the end of the driveway. The rest of the trees in our yard had already lost the frost to the sun. Despite it's frosty appearance, it was actually quite lovely and pretty mild out this morning.
